Physiotherapy
At the UQ Physiotherapy Clinics, we work with you to improve your activity and participation so that you can get the most out of life. Our clinics provide physiotherapy for:
- Children and teenagers;
- People having trouble or pain with day-to-day activities;
- People with sports injuries;
- People with mobility, balance and neurological issues.
You will receive services from physiotherapy students who are being supervised at all times by a fully qualified and highly experienced physiotherapist.
Referrals are not required to attend our clinics.

Our services
Children's physiotherapy
We provide physiotherapy for babies, kids, and teenagers throughout their growing years.
Physiotherapy sessions are delivered in a fun, safe, engaging and fully supervised environment. Our dedicated and experienced team of paediatric (children’s) physiotherapists work with you and your baby, child or teenager if they need assistance with concerns such as:
- Meeting developmental milestones such as head control, rolling, crawling, standing, walking and running
- Improving motor planning and attention to participate better in physical activity and sport
- Managing pain and discomfort, and improving movement after injury
- Managing movement and postural difficulties in children with diagnoses such as Cerebral Palsy, Down’s syndrome, Rett’s syndrome, and Prader Willi syndrome
- Managing movement and postural difficulties in children with orthopaedic and musculoskeletal disorders such as torticollis and plagiocephaly, joint hypermobility syndrome, Ehlers Danlos, and idiopathic juvenile arthritis
- Improving motor skills related to Developmental Co-ordination Disorder, developmental delay or other risk factors such as premature birth
- Improving concentration, learning, movement planning and organisation associated with behavioural disorders such as Attention Deficit (AD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Musculoskeletal and sports injury
We aim to identify the causes and solutions for the physical ailments and issues you are experiencing. We will work with you to develop a plan to keep you active and recovering from your injury. This might include doing movement exercises, hands-on therapy, advice on your posture in the workplace, and retraining how you move.
Our dedicated team of physiotherapists work with people with conditions such as:
- Arthritis and joint pain
- Back pain
- Neck pain and headaches
- Posture related pain
- Rehabilitation following injury such as anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear
- Rehabilitation following surgery such as total knee replacement (TKR) or shoulder reconstruction
- Sports or work related injuries such as sprains and strains
- Tendinopathy or tendonitis

Neurological, ageing and balance (NAB)
The NAB clinic specialises in the rehabilitation of neurological conditions in adults. Our goal is to improve your safety, independence and ability to participate in daily life and the broader community.
We can assist with:
- Falls prevention, balance and vestibular dysfunction
- Improving your mobility & confidence with walking
- Return to higher level activities like running
- Providing a program to improve strength, balance and coordination
- Improving your safety, independence and participation
We also offer fun and friendly group classes that work on individual goals in a social and motivating setting. We currently offer the following classes:
- Balance Masters (general balance class)
- Rep Masters (for those wanting to increase the intensity of exercise)
- Parky Blasters (Parkinson’s exercise class)
- Moving Fasters (return to running and for those who want to walk or move faster)
We offer both face to face and telehealth services. Our dedicated and experienced team of neurological physiotherapists/students work with people with the following health conditions:
- Stroke
- Brain injuries
- Parkinson’s disease
- Spinal cord injuries
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Motor Neurone Disease
- Guillain-Barré

Headache clinic
Our neck pain and headache research unit at UQ has led research in neck pain, whiplash and headache worldwide, and has recently focussed on examining the role of the neck joints and muscles in those with neck pain associated with their headache.
Our specialised team of physiotherapists work with people with headaches such as:
- Migraines
- Tension type headaches
- Cervicogenic headaches
- Jaw related headaches
Sport and Exercise Injury, Participation and Performance Clinic (UQ-SPRINT)
Sport and Exercise Injury, Participation and Performance Clinic (UQ-SPRINT)
The UQ Musculoskeletal and Sports Injury Clinic is proud to announce the commencement of the Sport and Exercise Injury, Participation and Performance Clinic (UQ-SPRINT).
UQ-SPRINT services will be provided by Titled Sports and Exercise Physiotherapists, who have undertaken additional training and have advanced knowledge in the assessment and treatment of sporting injuries.
Physiotherapy students will be observing interactions that occur in the UQ-SPRINT clinic.
Our dedicated team of physiotherapists work with people suffering from conditions including:
- Ligament sprains
- Muscle injuries
- Tendinopathy or tendonitis
- Bone stress related injuries
- Patellofemoral pain
- Persistent joint pain
- Osteoarthritis
- Back or neck pain
We also offer sports screening to look at risk of injury and sport performance.
The UQ-SPRINT clinic operates on Mondays and Thursdays, from 3-6pm. .
UQ Staff and students recieve a 15% discount on all services.

Sports Postgraduate Clinic
The Sports Postgraduate Clinic offers services of physiotherapists advancing their qualifications in managing sporting injuries.
Our physiotherapists are completing the Master of Physiotherapy, and are developing the specialised skills used by physiotherapists in the treatment of musculoskeletal and sporting conditions. All appointments are overseen by qualified expert clinicians.
