Andrea Abel

Andrea graduated as a speech pathologist from The University of Queensland in 2007. Prior to coming to UQ, Andrea worked for 10 years in major hospitals in Brisbane. She worked across a variety of clinical areas, and has developed expertise in the management of adult clients requiring speech pathology intervention for acquired disorders of swallowing and communication.

Throughout her career, Andrea has developed a specialist interest and expertise in the management of patients with neurological conditions such as brain tumours, stroke and Parkinson's disease, as well as in the assessment and management of voice, chronic cough, and vocal cord dysfunction. In addition to her extensive clinical experience, Andrea has held senior management and leadership positions in both speech pathology and allied health.

Andrea enjoys working with clinicians and students from all disciplines to deliver high quality, evidence-based clinical services and educational programmes.
