Andrea WhiteheadAndrea graduated as a speech pathologist from the University of Queensland in 2007. Prior to coming to UQ, Andrea worked for 10 years in major hospitals in Brisbane. She worked across a variety of clinical areas, and has developed expertise in the management of adult clients requiring speech pathology intervention for acquired disorders of swallowing and communication. Throughout her career, Andrea has developed a specialist interest and expertise in the management of patients with neurological conditions such as brain tumours, stroke and Parkinson's disease, as well as in the assessment and management of voice, chronic cough, and vocal cord dysfunction. In addition to her extensive clinical experience, Andrea has held senior management and leadership positions in both speech pathology and allied health. Andrea enjoys working with clinicians and students from all disciplines to deliver high quality, evidence-based clinical services and educational programmes



Melissa Kelly   BSc (Occupational Therapy)

Clinical Educator (Occupational Therapy)

Melissa KellyMelissa graduated from Curtin University in 2002 and has an extensive clinical background in paediatrics in a range of settings including early intervention, private practice, schools and home visiting. Melissa has developed her clinical expertise working in Brisbane Newcastle and Perth, as well as in the United Kingdom. Melissa’s clinical areas of special interest are children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and how a child’s ability to process sensory information impacts on their participation of daily occupations. She has also been a teaching academic at Curtin University. She has a busy family life and loves being near the beach or river.

Jacinta Dark

Jacinta graduated from Newcastle University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy). She has a broad range of experience working in paediatrics, and has been fortunate to work within a variety of settings. Jacinta enjoys working closely with children and their families to achieve the best outcomes. Jacinta gained experience working in the community, focusing on the impact a disability has on participation and inclusion. Jacinta has also developed a special interest in environmental modifications, prescription of specialised mobility and self-care equipment, and technology to support independence. Jacinta previously provided specialist services in rural and remote areas across NSW to children who have cerebral palsy.  In QLD, Jacinta has worked within a tertiary children’s hospital, working across all age groups from infants to adolescents. More recently, her career has focused on clinical education and Jacinta has enjoyed supporting students and clinical educators to achieve success in clinical placements.
